Hakan Gadler, President
Hakan Gadler, M.D., Ph.D., MBA, is an entrepreneurial multicultural, multilingual executive with more than 25 years experience in the life-science industry, including pharmaceuticals/biotechnology; medical devices; diagnostic assays; laboratory services; and healthcare services, and in multiple therapeutic areas. During this time he has had the opportunity to work with, and to understand, the healthcare industry from different perspectives with products at various stages of development and to communicate effectively with different groups of stakeholders.
Responsibilities and projects have included corporate development and strategy implementation; project management; competitive positioning; marketing, including strategies and tactics required for successful market entry and commercialization of new products; product launches; and business development and strategy.
Apart from working for Merck & Co., Inc. in clinical research, project management and in the U.S. marketing division in multiple therapeutic areas, and with other life-science opportunities, his background also includes data analytics, information technology and statistics.
He has been an angel investor through Delaware Crossing Investor Group, an angel investor group in the Philadelphia region where he served on the screening committee and he has founded two small companies, one in the healthcare industry and one in the software industry.
Hakan is also an affiliated researcher with Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, and a co-recipient of a joint international research grant on infectious diseases and global public health between Karolinska Institutet and a university in China.
His research interests include precision medicine/personalized medicine driven by advances in bioinformatics, diagnostics and new therapeutics; mathematical modeling of diseases; health outcomes and health economics; the practice of evidence-based medicine; international healthcare systems and the collaboration between healthcare providers, industry and academia to demonstrate value.
Hakan received his M.D. and Ph.D. from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, and his MBA from New York University.
In addition to English, he speaks Swedish (native), German (intermediate) and Chinese (intermediate).
